Intel transforms and consolidates its presence in Costa Rica

• The operation will focus in the areas of global services, research and development, staffed by a hundred thousand employees.

• The Corporation demonstrates its commitment by becoming certified with the country brand "Essential Costa Rica."

October, 2014. Costa Rica Intel announces the transformation of its operation in the country which will focus on the Global Services Centre and the Centre for Research and Development that are already established in Costa Rica.

"Our transformation is not something that just started; it is a process that has occurred over the years and that still continues. At this time, we are the Research and Development Centre with the largest number of employees in Costa Rica; our Global Service Centre offers integral solutions of excellence in various areas, with great complexity and added value, "said Timothy Scott, Government Relations Manager of Intel Costa Rica.

The Global Service Centre performs multifunctional work in the areas of Finance, Human Resources, Marketing and Sales, Quality and Information Technology. Some of these tasks have worldwide coverage, some cover Latin American and others cover the entire American continent. According to Scott, these are services provided from start to finish and are characterized by their innovation.

On the other hand, the Centre for Research and Development is composed of engineering units responsible for the creation of prototypes, testing and validation of solutions for integrated circuits. The Centre will also house the new Megalaboratory, which is unique in its class within Intel.

"This Megalaboratory will run, test and deliver samples throughout the entire Intel product portfolio to ensure that the microprocessors are fully functional before entering the high volume manufacturing process. In addition, it will provide services to Intel Design Centres and manufacturing operations in the world, "Scott said.

For the Corporation, the success of the entire transformation in the operation of Costa Rica has to do with the human capital capabilities that exist in the country. Intel continues and strengthens its operations working hand by hand with a hundred thousand employees.

“The talent of Intel Costa Rica, during the almost 18 years of being established here, has been the key to our success. The Creativity, passion, optimism and courage of each one of our associates will enable us to continue adding value to the country and the Corporation, "said Scott.

The consolidation of the company´s entire operation and the “Essential Costa Rica” country brand certification demonstrate Intel's commitment to Costa Rica.

"We want to be a leader and want to accompany the country in the use of this competitiveness tool called country brand. Costa Rica offers a good business ecosystem with highly qualified human capital and a privileged geographical location. We constantly work with the government, industry and universities to enhance these elements, "said Scott.

Vincent Guglielmetti, General Manager of Intel Costa Rica, indicated that in 5 years they expect the operation to have a complete transformation in terms of leadership and technical talent. This will attract more "senior" positions to Costa Rica and will contribute to the objectives of the country of having, as an added value, professionals with improved expertise.
